Something I have known is I have needed to do is promote myself way more than I have until this point, how are people meant to know me and my work if I don’t put myself out there? A good social media presence is necessary in this day and age especially in the creative industries and I have to do more if I want to do something I love, therefore I have started a YouTube channel to help bring hopefully more attention and work my way. The video medium allows me to show my images and how I make them, giving them more context and meaning than just the images themselves posted to Instagram, Facebook or even here.

It is also come to fruition for personal reasons, which I plan to elaborate on in a video in the future, a large part of being mental health and what I have learnt and found out about myself through my therapist, one of the things he has shown me is I need to push myself outside my comfort zone so I can be who I want to be and foster my self confidence.

My first video follows me in a local woodland in search of the early signs of autumn with my trusty assistant Luna, it was filmed at the start of October so unfortunately has lost a little relevance. My confidence is a little shaky in this first attempt but I can say I am already happier talking to a camera in the things I have filmed subsequently and hopefully that will come across over the coming weeks.

I am hoping to release one video a week while I have a backlog of material and then hopefully keep that cadence thereafter, videos will be released on Sundays on YouTube with an accompanying short blog post here featuring the photos from the video if you want a better look at them, the same video will be posted to Facebook directly on the following Saturday but I will post a link to YouTube when the video first goes live on Sundays, the images featured will appear on Instagram too and finally snippets of the videos will become Reels and TikToks so I better start getting on with it!
